Limoncello! the one drink the Italians cant get enough of, serve your friends a homemade limoncello and they will feel they’ve won your heart, its a lovely drink that has a strong lemon flavor without being sour or bitter.

It is the second most popular liqueur in Italy after Campari and has recently become popular in other parts of the world. Restaurants in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand are now increasingly offering limoncello on their beverage and dessert menus.

In northern Italy, the liqueur is often referred to as Limoncino, while the English calls it Lemoncello

Now lets get right to making our drink..

What you will need….

  • 5/6 Organic lemons
  • 500 ml of Vodka or any pure alcohol of your choice.
  • 300 g of Sugar
  • 500 ml of Water

Steps..

  1. Wash and peel the lemons, make sure you avoid the white part because it makes it bitter. Its important you use Organic Lemons cause its the peel we need, non-organic lemons usually has some chemicals rubbed on them to make them look fresh, and we don’t need such chemicals in our drink.

2. Put your lemon peels in a clean jar and pour 500 ml of alcohol, seal tightly and leave in a cool dry place for 5–7 days. (some people leave it longer, it depends on you). Once or twice in a day, shake the mixture so the lemon peel is distributed well through the alcohol and mixes nicely.
